Lisette's 15 years experience in the field includes: being a practicing Psychotherapist for many years at major New York Psychiatric Centers for Mental Health including - Our Lady of Mercy and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Over five years working for the Canadian Military as a Psychotherapist specializing in PTSD, Group and Individual Counselling.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy training, Edmonton, AB

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) , is an empirically supported, systematic and comprehensive psychotherapeutic approach for treating individuals struggling with severe emotion and behavioural dysregulation (including chronic suicidality, intentional self-harm, as well as extreme and problematic impulsive behaviour).

Treatment of PTSD and Complex PTSD III: Research and Practical Applications

Conference led by the leading authorities in PTSD, showcasing the latest neurological  research and therapeutic approaches in the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress in the military as well as in civilian populations.

Conflict Management and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Process Certificate and Interest Base Negotiation (IBN) Certificate.

Edmonton Garrison Executive Director Conflict Management Office.

This five day combined certificate training presented the necessary skills to assess and manage conflict and dispute resolution in business, relational and organizational situations. 

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Level 1 (EMDR) Certificate, Edmonton, Alberta.

This lively and interactive workshop led by Susan Fraser, MSW, RSW, CTS, EMDRIA approved instructor certified participants to conduct EMDR with chronic PTSD patients.  EMDR is an approved technique, which can expedite recovery time in post-traumatic stress sufferers.

National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder certificate of training, Palo Alto, California.

Five days interactive workshop led by United States Department of Veteran Affairs Hospital, Education and Clinical Laboratory Division.  Workshop detailed all aspects of PTSD development, latest treatment and diagnostics tools, among many proven treatment techniques.

Ambiguous Loss Training, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, New York.

Full day certificate workshop (7.5 hours) led by Pauline Boss, Ph.D.  This workshop outlines the multiple losses accumulated through indiscriminate, ambiguous yet crippling life events and how to manage despite the loss.

Student and Staff Supervision Certificate, Columbia University, New York.

Three months certificate training, comprising a weekly four-hour workshop, in site supervisory meetings, and three reports/evaluations on each of my two Columbia Graduate Students.

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder  Diagnostic Training, Edson, Alberta.

Full day workshop (7.5 hours) led by a team of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder professionals.  Fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) are some of  presents some of the most detrimental – yet preventable- birth defects, with an incidence rate of approximately 1 in 100 live births.  They are the direct result of alcohol consumption during pregnancy, and the leading known cause of mental retardation.  FASD are constituted by effects on the neural constitution of an individual along with a host of ensuing brain malformations that lead to behavioral dysfunctions such as attention-deficit, depression, and learning disabilities.

Brief Psychotherapy Format

Two full days of training (7 hours each) by top psychiatrists on brief psychotherapy model.  Focus was on the  history, theory and techniques of models of brief psychotherapy, with a focus on brief psychodynamic therapy.

Treatment and Diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder, Manhattanville College,

Two and a half days of training (18 hours) by seasoned psychiatrists on difficulties and pitfalls of diagnosis and treatment of borderline personality disorder.

DSMIV Certificate Training, Manhattanville College, Yonkers, New York.

Two full days of training (7 hours each) by top psychiatrists on in-depth diagnostic training on DSMIV, with emphasis on axis I and II differential diagnosis.

Certified in Adult and Teenager Suicide Prevention, Mercy Hospital, New York.

Several one day (7 hours) workshops given twice each year, on training, assessment, intervention and diagnosis of suicide predictors for adults, with emphasis on teenager suicide predictors.

Crisis Intervention, Our Lady of Mercy Hospital.

12 hours in-service training on crisis intervention, critical incident stress and support to victims and survivors of violent or catastrophic events. 

Certified Parenting Skills Instructor/Trainer, University of Syracuse.

Two week long certificate training (7 hours per day) on in-depth parenting skills, which spanned from pre-natal, to new-born, to early childhood and into adolescence.  Emphasis on neurological and psychosocial child development, insight, empathy and early childhood psychological and physical needs.
